Fullerton Era Fender Stratocaster ‘62 AVRI (American Vintage Reissue) from 1982-1983. The guitar is in nice natural relic condition (developed by aging and playing) considering it is already more than 40 years old. The checking and slight relic gives it a super nice vibe, character and mojo. The neck and headstock have got an amazing ‘tangerine’ tone specific from really vintage guitars.
The guitar is all original except from a professional refret and the common mod of the three way switch to a five position one. The original three way is included inside the case. The case is also the original vintage tweed one in really nice shape. The tremolo bar and ashtray bridge cover are included in the case. Its weight is 3,4 kg. The guitar was recently set up, adjusted and inspected by Bull Skull Tone, who was astonished by it.
Fullerton Era reissues were the first ever made. They are considered by many players and collectors as the closest to the pre-CBS original Strats. They were made by hand, using the same methods, templates and even tools as the pre-CBS ones. They were produced for a short period of time, between 1982 and 1984, before Fender moved from Fullerton to Corona in 1985 (where also CNC machinery production was implemented and replaced hand crafting).
Since they were made only for two years, by hand and paying extraordinary attention to detail, original specs and quality control, a relatively small number were produced. So, there are not many of them out there and even less in Europe.
To sum up, this is an amazing guitar which has become already a piece of Fender history. According to many, this will be even more sought after in the future and become the next “pre-CBS” strats.
