1924 Vega Tubaphone Conversion (previously a tenor banjo, converted to a 5 string) in good vintage condition. The conversion was done by Frank Neat of Kentucky, who is very well respected in the banjo world for his conversions as well as his own builds. The original wooden dowel was replaced with a coordinator rod at the time of conversion and the neck looks very authentic, wear and all!

This is a great sounding banjo with a nice deep and mellow tone, but still plenty of volume and pop to be heard well over a large ensemble of instruments. Very even across the strings and up and down the neck. The banjo is set up and plays wonderfully in all positions with no issues whatsoever. The banjo comes with an older hardshell case that is a tad bit oversized but perfect for shipping/traveling as there is room for packing material in the case to surround the banjo.

I took this banjo in a trade, thinking I would play more old time music, but I’m not, so need to let it go.
