The M3 camera-mount shotgun mic from Zoom is the best way to get portable, light-weight, 32-bit float recordings that can record directly into the camera, into the M3 itself, or both. While a shotgun mic is typically a mono signal, Zoom's M3 goes one step further and offers stereo recording—plus, it always records a backup mid/side file for adjusting the stereo field in post. Speaking of post, the Zoom M3 companion software lets you prepare the audio files before downloading them off the device. Take it off the camera for precise recording or use it as an audio device for your computer and mobile device for great sounding video calls and streaming. Zoom's M3 shotgun mic is great on or off the camera for customizable stereo, mono, and mid/side recording.
