Stripped down guitars are cool, so I thought I'd strip down my Astola body style (this #17) to a single ceramic, handwound by me Ukrainian Rail pickup and volume knob. While stripping it down, I decided to take away all the wood I could without jeopardizing structural integrity. Then I created some double-sided acrylic mirror inlays that you can leave in or take out - depending on how you prefer it.
The guitar body is ultra light, of course, and made from a smorgasbord of reclaimed wood cutoffs and the neck is made from locally felled poplar with a local maple fingerboard. Finished with eco-friendly Natural Earth Paints' plant-based varnish.
The neck is a classic C shape and a little on the chunkier side, with a slightly wider at the nut for ease of open chords. The guitar is currently strung with 10s and has light and low action. 25.5" scale, 16" radius.
