Bang & Olufsen Beogram 4002 US market type 5503 linear tracking turntable with the rare CD-4 factory option. The CD-4 provides quadraphonic capability and has a CD-4 RIAA Class A preamplifier circuit. In addition to being capable of playing either discrete 4-channel (CD-4 & SQ) or stereo recordings, CD-4 units have modulation/RIAA equalization and can be connected to any line-level audio inputs, not just ‘PHONO’. It's a very handy feature if your preamplifier lacks a dedicated phono pre-amp (AUX or TAPE inputs can be used). It's regarded as one of the finest RIAA preamps ever made!
The type 5503 has the very heavy platter and the excellent electronically regulated AC motor of the Beogram 4000, these features make it a higher quality unit than later 4002/4004 units.
This table plugs in and turns on, but the belt needs to be replaced and the cartridge has broken cantilever. Will need a new cartridge. Although I could not test play this table, everything indicates that it does work properly.
Plinth and switch panel are in good condition. Dust cover has usual cleaning swirls but nothing more. Please see pics.
