About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a nice late 1950's / early 1960's Calrad model 400 C crystal microphone made with an all metal body, chrome front grill and comes with a Lanier adjustable desk stand.

This microphone has a classic "bullet mic" appearance that's a bit more masculine and aggressive due to it's styling. The Japanese manufacturers made several crystal mics from the 1950's into the 1970's and this model was certainly one of the more attractive in design.

This microphone is not perfect by any means but it's pretty darn nice. The original teal green paint show just a tiny bit of wear on the top left side. Some deep scratches that go down to the primer. Otherwise it's quite beautiful. This mic has been cleaned and tested. The crystal element no longer works though it's still inside. The label / badge is in excellent shape. Front chrome gill looks incredible with zero pitting  and the dark black cloth screen is free of any rips or holes. The joint mechanism has lots of tension and holds the mic in place perfectly though you'll notice the head leans slightly to one side.

This microphone has a classic deco design that was very popular during the 1940's & 50's before the look faded out around the 1950's. It was copied by several manufacturers of microphones back in the day. If you are looking for something very unique in which to display or use...look no farther.

The cable is in great condition being free of any cracks but the length is only 16 inches and comes with a male 1/4 inch end connector.

Mic is 100% original and solid. No loose or missing parts. I would rate this microphone physically a solid 8 on a scale of 1 - 10.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The Lanier stand is a 1970's model but emulated the look of many American stands in the 1940's with it's distinct two tier base. As seen in the pictures provided this desk stand has never been used. There isn't a scratch on it. The factory paint is pristine as is the chrome plated upper and lower tubing. The mic even come with it's original plastic cable clip on the lower tube and the upper tube still has it's adjustable adapter for smaller threaded Japanese mics.

This desk stand measures appx 13 inches tall (tallest height) X 8 inches (lowest height) X 5 inches wide and weighs almost 2 pounds. This piece is 100% original and a must have for that 1940's to 70's classic microphone.

The original rubber pads are unused and there are no rust stains on the bottom of the base. Overall an easy 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

And as with all my vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened due to too many unpaid mics lately. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
