THE DEMON!
2023 Gibson Custom Shop Limited Edition Gene Simmons Signature EB-0 Reissue Ebony Electric Bass Guitar KISS Chrome Black White Binding Short Scale 30.5” SG Doublecut Body Les Paul Junior Special Grover String Through Ace Frehley Stanley

THE FIRST EVER GIBSON CUSTOM SHOP BASS!!!

This is indeed a historic release that recreates an iconic instrument. Never before has the Gibson Custom Shop released a bass guitar... until now! Bassists rejoice! No longer is Gibson USA the sole option for a Gibson bass guitar - now players can experience the same level of Custom Shop quality as a Reissue Les Paul, but now in a bass guitar. If you know, you know. But, this is a Limited Edition of only 100 very desirable instruments worldwide, so act while you still can!

KISS needs no introduction. And neither does everyone’s favorite tongue-wagging bat/lizard! Gene Simmons is a true icon. Known worldwide for his persona, both onstage and offstage, he is LARGER THAN LIFE. Standing over 7 feet tall with his platformed dragon boots and full-body armor, there’s no missing him. Perhaps the only other bass player in the world that comes close to rivaling his celebrity is Paul McCartney.

Since the beginning, KISS has been synonymous with Gibson guitars. Paul, Gene, and Ace can all be seen proudly wielding their weapons of choice on the front cover of ALIVE (the undisputed greatest live album of all time). KISS secured a Gibson endorsement early in the band’s history and the Marauder smash became an integral part of the live show, and Gibson was happy to supply KISS with the misfit “factory seconds”. Gene eventually began to design and market his own brand of basses, but everything has come full circle and he is now back where it all started, with Gibson!

🦇👹

Gene used this EB-0 since the very inception of the band, although it had a very different form. It started out as a cherry-finished 1960 EB-0 with a simplistic bridge design, layout, and single-neck pickup. However, through the years, Gene heavily modified his primary instrument to fit with the band’s visuals and theme. His bass was refinished in Ebony, bright white binding was added to the top of the body, the pickup, pickguard, the bridge/tailpiece were completely overhauled, and tuners, pickguard, and pickup were replaced. Black ‘n’ chrome fits the vibe! And the more aggressive bridge pickup was well-suited to deliver KISS’s hard-rocking tones.

This historic Custom Shop Signature Model recreates Gene’s EB-0 in its final stage - DRESSED TO KILL! Unique features include a custom neck profile, short scale length, bound body, Grover tuners, high-mass bridge, optional string-through ferrules, custom pickup, and all the accompanying visual flairs. As a short-scale instrument, it makes for an especially fast and easy playing experience for a guitarist.

Gene is well-known for using this EB-0 extensively back in the day and on key nationally broadcast TV performances such as “Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert” and the Paul Lynde Halloween Special. Gene also used it prominently during the Destroyer tour but began designing and selling his own line of basses shortly after. Still, he was heavily influenced by the EB-0, and its characteristics are evident in the design of his “Punisher” - which is essentially the EB-0, but elongated and modernized with extra pointy contours.
