Hello and thanks for looking at my 81 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty - serial # 810511528. First, this is a Gibson Second guitar as marked on the back of the headstock. Gibson "Second" guitars were marked at the factory because the guitar did not meet some aesthetic standard like finish flaws, or a ding, or almost anything the DID NOT EFFECT PLAYABILITY. This Paul plays like a dream, and screams like she should. This Paul is 90% original from the factory, everything except the pickups and the frets (someone before me had a very nice fret job, which is still awesome!). The bridge pickup is a USA Gibson Humbucker, and the Neck is a USA Gibson P94T humbucker sized P90. I love this combo better than 2 humbuckers, I can get a ton of different sounds out of these beauties. Anything from clean, to scream, creamy, tasty tone qualities. The neck is to die for, she is 1 11/16" wide and 7/8" thick at the nut, 2 1/16" wide and 1" thick at the 12th. I call it a nice soft "C" shape which is perfect for my medium large hands. She plays fast and smooth with just the right relief for my taste. The truss rod works as designed in case the new owner wants to change it to their taste. Also, the neck is straight and true, and the frets are so comfortable to play. I always say if you are a Very picky PRO player, you may want a level and crown to your exact specs. The other 96% of players will love this neck exactly as is! The finish has a bunch of wear, aging patina, scratches, belt buckle wear, and neck finish natural wear which makes her play so smooth, and look like a HOT 42 year old 9.8 pound Les Paul should look.. There ARE NO defects that would affect playing. She is a solid Les Paul, stays in tune, and is always ready to jam right out of the case! The original "clam shell" plastic case is included.
