Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a somewhat rare 1967 Electro Voice 655C Dynamic microphone with adjustable 50, 150 and 250 OHMS settings and a studio quality sound though currently set at 150 OHMS (medium impedance). This unique microphone was a high end, lite weight mic with a rugged construction designed to give the user a bit of length to work with. This model was made for about 40 years and was one of the longest production run E.V mics made. The signal on this 655C sounds like new...strong and clear with just a bit of bass. It has the adjustable impedance board that you can get to in order to change the impedance.

Again, set at 150 OHMS. If you need more bass than the 250 OHMS setting would be ideal. If you want a high impedance setting then the 50 OHMS setting will be best. The frequency response on these mics are quite superb.

You don't see too many of these mics around and they were quite expensive when sold back in the day. It's an absolute gem and the nicest example I have ever seen or offered. An easy 10 on a scale of 1 - 10. It comes with the XLR cable, mic sleeve, mic clip data sheet and manual as well as the original box. One of the most collectable E.V mics of all time and they continue to rise in value.

Pic # 2 is from an old E.V catalog showing the mic and it's characteristics. The actual data sheet you will be getting is shown in pics # 7 & 8.

Pic # 3 shows The Beatles performing live using this very model mic sometime back in the early to mid 1960's and was excellent for studio and stage work.

The 655C came out right about the same time as the 666 model did and both were multi Z except that the 666 was a cardioid dynamic mic as where the 655C was just a standard dynamic mic. I have been told that these are superb models especially when boosted with a good pre-amp. Great for hand held situations as well. The mic has an impedance board that can be removed and the impedance changed with a soldering iron. If you need me to change it for you I'd be happy to do so at no extra charge. Just let me know. It shows how to do this as well on the back of the data sheet as seen in pic # 8.

The 655C is a lite weight design and is appx 10 1/2 inches long X 1 inch wide.

This microphone has a stock painted tube that shows absolutely no wear and the paint is 100% original.   Nothing loose or missing. Electro Voice painted these mics as the all chrome bodies were not ideal for live T.V or televised events with the extreme glare the chrome would put off. The E.V badge looks excellent and completely legible. The mesh screen looks good as well with zero dents, odors or tarnish.

If you have never heard one of these then you will certainly appreciate the sound quality for an earlier dynamic microphone. The original E.V 300 model clip is included and fits the mic snug. The clip is in excellent physical and operating condition. It's the 2nd gen plastic 300 model. It provides a wide degree of tilt up and down and grips the 655C perfectly. Simply mount this mic clip to any stand you wish and you are ready to go!

There is an original suede mic sleeve included that you can keep the mic in when not in actual use to protect the mic. It's in excellent condition as well.

The 15 foot cable is used to operate the mic. It uses the hard to find Cannon UA-3-11 connector on the mic with the standard male Switchcraft 1/4 inch end connection for use with most audio equipment. Cable is soft and pliable with no damage. Just very lite exterior scuff marks.

The data sheet shows lite wear but has a ton of technical info on this mic. There is a very cool E.V manual included showing many products of that time that is included as seen in pic # 6.

The 655C box shows wear as well but a hard to find accessory that will take all the contents and a great place to store the mic when not in actual use.

A very cool package deal all around and the nicest 655C out there.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTO IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR SCALING AND DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

I do have several older stand for sale if one is needed for this mic.

As with all my vintage microphones...
