I share a lot of my process on YouTube (channel is my name, TimSway) and many of my viewers were asking for a kit, so I designed this guitar with the sole purpose of making the design available to other builders via cnc files, router templates and individual parts for sale on my website.
But THIS is the actual guitar I made to demonstrate how to use the kit in a 6-part video series on my channel. While I did finish another guitar in this body style before I finished this one (you can see that video, too), This is the first one I cut so it's #1.
The neck is locally felled maple with maple fingerboard and the body is cut from a reclaimed church pew (oak). The pickups are my "NailBuckers" made from reclaimed pallet wood and nails - and they sound amazing.
Check out the video for a no-pedalboard demo. 25.5" scale, 16" radius, All eco-friendly finishes. The neck is a slightly chunky "C" neck with a slightly wider than most nut for ease of open chords, we're talking hundreds of an inch thicker and wider, not massively different than you're used to. You'll like it.
Being oak, this guitar is a little heavier than most of the ones I make but still probably lighter than a Paul. But more importantly it is well balanced and feels "right" on a strap or in your lap.
