Fender Custom Shop CW Fleming Master Built 1954 Limited Edition Sunburst 2004 - Sunburst

In celebration of Fender 50th Anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster, the Fender Custom Shop has faithfully recreated the Limited Release 1954 Stratocaster guitar. Each guitar was Master Built at Fender's world renowned "Dream Factory" in Corona, California and features custom reproduction original 1954 pickups, original "U"-shaped maple neck, original finish and body contours, and an accurate reproduction of the original guitar strap shipped in 1954.

The Custom Shop used all of the same materials that went into the first 1954 Stratocaster guitars, including a solid ash body, oversized Alnico 3 pole piece magnets, the styrene blend used for the pickup covers, knobs and switch cap, and the PVA pickguard material. Reproductions of the original pickups were wound by Abigail Ybarra, who has been making Fender pickups since the 1950s. Additionally, all the plastic parts for the Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster have been retooled to historically correct shapes and specifications.

True to the original instruments are several other features. For the first time since 1954, are the unique knobs, switch tip, pickguard, tremolo cover plate, and pickup covers that have been retooled and manufactured using the exact formulas and materials. Also included are the original, then “patent pending” bridge saddles, which have been replicated even though Fender has long owned the patents for these parts. 

The guitar plays beautifully and has a warm and very balanced sound compared to my 40th anniversary strat. It weighs in at approximately 7.5 lbs. Serial Number 4036. The guitar has only had one owner and it was given directly to him by CW Fleming. The owner passed recently and I am representing the sale of the guitar on behalf of his widow.
