This is a rare Peavey Tube Sweetener Stereo Line Amp. These were a product of Peavey's acquisition of Audio Media Research which produced a number of forward thinking devices that were destined to become sought after pieces of music gear. The Tube Sweetener was definitely a product that was ahead of it's time since it is perfect for providing ultra low power line level tube amplification to modelers and other digital audio devices which actually are more prevalent now than when this was designed.
This works WAY better at warming up a digital device than a tube preamp because it amplifies the signal output like a power amplifier which is where most of the tube magic happens. It also has specific controls to control tube gain, compression and saturation.
ALSO: it's setup like two mono-bloc amps in stereo: the levels can be controlled independently, so you can feed it a single stereo source or you can also amplify two completely independent mono sources one on each channel. Pretty cool! Here's a feature list from another site:
DESCRIPTION: Peavey Electronics Corporation is pleased to introduce the Peavey Tube SweetenerTM, a two-channel tube enhancement product that restores warmth through the use of tube technology. Both 1/4' and RCA inputs/outputs are provided, in addition to a -10 dB pad. Both channels feature a 'strength' LED that indicates the amount of tube compression and Level control. The 'Sugar' knob controls the amount of saturation and a 'Spice' knob functions as a tone control (mild to hot.) The Tube Sweetener is available in a 1U rack space package for easy mounting.FEATURES:Excellent for 'warming up' digital signals in recording or sound reinforcement
