I'm the original owner and bought this pair together straight from the builder in 2019 (sequential serial numbers). I've used them with great success on drum room, drum heart, and stereo acoustic guitar in all sorts of spaces. They have a very present sound with lots of output but no proximity effect -- so you can position them very very close to a source without proximity effect boomy-ness. You can control the amount of room sound purely by distance to the source. You can also tape them to the floor to take advantage of boundary effect, and they're durable enough that you don't have to worry about stepping on them! On super loud sources, they do distort, but IMO do so pleasantly. Clips were not included originally, but I'm including two spring-loaded "butterfly" clips in this listing.
Here's the maker's blurb about them:
The RED12 is an omni directional, small diaphragm electret condenser microphone that is perfect for most professional, semi-professional, and home-recording applications. It has gained popularity as a room mic, as well as a "drum heart" residing just above the bass drum. Despite its omni pattern, it also shines as a close mic on all acoustic instruments when a roomier sound is desired.
- Handmade from an actual discharged 12Ga shell.
- Requires phantom power.
- Due to their unbalanced nature, use with electronically-balanced preamps is recommended
