About This Listing

This Dan Smith model USA Fender Stratocaster hardtail with only slight play wear (pick marks on pickguard from strumming) and what I would describe as excellent condition for a 40+ year guitar.  This guitar has been being collected and has seen minimal use since i've owned it.  I am not the original owner.

I pull out at least once a year and give it a once over but you may have to set it up to your liking... Gorgeous wood grain on both body and neck.  All original hardware and electronics.  Plays and sounds vintage as it should.  C shape neck.

Slight oxidation patina on the bridge and inside input jack cavity.

Comes with either.. Your choice:  G & G Tweed case in mint shape.....OR The claimed Original Old school '70s  '80s hard shell case gig style with red velvet interior in excellent shape.

"Smith Strat" that's the common nickname for the 1982 strats.  Generally thought of as better build quality than say the prior previous 3-4 years, call it (1978-1981) of the big headstock models.  This was the first step of the "recovery" of Fender as Dan Smith was the designer who worked on the changes back toward the vintage specs, and CBS had put Bill Schultz in charge of Fender by this point (Schultz would of course lead the team that purchase Fender from CBS).

Back in 1982 I really like these but couldn't afford one at the time.  They do have things like fenders hot bridge pickup (the X-1), they have better body contours and have tighter build tolerances, the necks tend to be on the slim side.
