The Mapex Black Panther Wasp packs so much heat in its sting that you might need to stock up on hydrocortisone. Together with its chunky 1.0mm steel shell and specially sized Stick Saver triple-flanged hoops, this popcorn-sized 5.5" x 10" all-steel snare can take you from dixieland frontline cadences to punk and ska revival glory in seconds flat. Unlike other auxiliary snares, the Wasp resists sounding choked at high tunings. This is thanks to its slightly undersized shell and Mapex's SONIClear bearing edges, which together allow the heads full freedom of motion while maximizing tone and tuning. You also get a set of wide snare beds and the Black Panther cylinder-drive dual-adjustment throw off mechanism for precision snare sensitivity. Even better, the Mapex Wasp's integrated mounting bracket means you can mount this snare to any open cymbal or hi-hat stand (L-arm not included).
