Offered for your consideration is this exceptionally clean and almost entirely original first generation Telecaster Thinline built in 1969. This example is serial number 259997.
The Thinline was first introduced in 1968 in response to the increasing weight of Telecaster guitars of that period. The body is produced using a solid piece of ash or mahogany which was hollowed out from the rear. The hollowed out body was then routed for its electronics and the back piece then carefully glued into place.
This early single coil Thinline has an ash body and is finished in "Natural". It has a total weight of just 6.4 pounds with no neck dive when strapped on. It has a one-piece maple neck with the walnut "skunk stripe" and depth measurements of .825" at the first fret increasing to .945" at the twelfth fret. The neck is date stamped May, 1969. It received new frets and a new nut in recent years by Elderly Instruments. I am also told that the pickups were replaced many years ago, supposedly with 70's era Fender units. The pots date to the 36th week of 1966 and all the other electronic components appear to be original to the guitar.
The cosmetic condition of this guitar is exceptional. It shows evidence of years of play but it hase been very well cared for. Overall, this is one of the cleanest examples of an early Thinline that I have come across. It comes in a vintage Fender case from the late 60's - early 70's period witch is in very good condition. The guitar is very competitively priced to reflect the non-original components and case.
This is an exceptional vintage Telecaster and is amazing condition for its 50+ years. It is light and a pleasure to play and sounds great too. Please check out the brief sound sample below. Click the 'Buy Now' button and make this lovely vintage Telecaster Thinline yours today!
