About This Listing

THIS ITEM IS NOW IN NEW YORK, ships from there or pick up.

For Sale is my TR-808 drum machine. It works perfectly and it has given me no problems over the years, and I have had it future proofed with service which will be detailed below.

Every component of the power supply except the transformer has been replaced, capacitors, rectifiers, regulators, everything. It didn't fail, I just take care of my equipment and want it to last another 40 years.

I also am including extra spare parts that I have to keep it marching into the future.

All electrolytic capacitors in the machine except 33 have been replaced with new ones, the ones that remain original are in the CB, MT, and HT circuits.

Electrolytic capacitors dry out in 20-30 years and can cause failures, I had this work done before any problems arrived.

The tact switches below the button caps have been replaced with Omron switches, sealed and higher quality, plus there is a thin plastic film under the button caps so no dust or anything can get to them.

The switch button board has been wired to the main board instead of the thin film used originally.

The Start / Stop Switch and the Tap Write switch are new as well.

Blue LED's to indicate the A and B sections, and Part 1 and Part 2 (4 total)

Bass Drum Extended decay mod, just extends the range of the Bass Drum Decay knob for long kicks.

These are the spare parts I am including, I could also sell those separately but they will be handy for an 808 owner to have on hand.

27 tact switches for the 16 step buttons, they shouldn't fail again, maybe in a few decades.

2 replacement Tap Write / Start Stop Switches, these are rare, and essential for a functioning machine.

1 complete step button (yellow) or he switch cap can be changed with any original one of any color, has the LED and the housing.

1 main Volume potentiometer, new. The original is fine, but it may be useful someday.

16 orange stickers for the individual volume knobs, 15 white stickers for the other knobs. I was only missing one white one, these are all new and unused.

2 bridge rectifiers, the machine has new ones, these are new unused, just in case.

3 D880 transistors for power supply.

1 B596 transistor

A bag of the original parts removed.

A Print out of the TR-808 User Manual ordered from Roland, very nice with a good thick cover.

I never thought I'd part with this, which is why I have these parts and that work done, but new priorities and less time make it tempting.

Product Overview
With its warm toned strip of colorful sequencing buttons and tweakable banks of knobs, the Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer is quite possibly the most iconic drum machine of all time. Featuring a booming kick, sharp snare, tunable toms and a variety of percussion elements, the 808 is capable of creating and sequencing complete rhythm tracks. While Roland's initial hopes to create a realistic machine for emulating session drummers were dashed, generations of artists and producers have embraced and repurposed the 808's unique electronic tones, birthing entire genres based around its inimitable sounds.
