About This Listing
1930s Vintage Gibson L-50 Acoustic Archtop/Archback, double F Hole guitar with vintage hard shell case that I believe was a vintage Gibson case(says made in Canada-D'Andrea). I have owned this guitar for over 50 years. I rescued it from the original owner in OK and it was in poor condition. Fortuntately, we had available to us in those days, the incomparable talents of Don Teeter, still considered one of the best luthiers in the USA. He wrote many books and was commonly at the Vintage Guitar Shows. He restored, upgraded and repaired this guitar and it has been rock solid every since. He replaced the frets and dressed the fretboard, installed a vintage USA wooden bridge that was age appropriate, he installed vintage Gibson50/60s Kluson tuners and I believe part of the tailpiece. He also, since the original logo was mostly missing, he took a vintage age appropriate pearl logo out of a vintage 1930s Gibson banjo and installed it in this guitar-superb craftsmanship and detail. All braces, structures, set up, neck joints, performance aspects were all updated and improved at that time. Since that time, since I am mostly an electric guitar player, the guitar has been in closet or on a guitar stand. It has always been in climate controlled non smoking environment. It has been rarely played, no wear on the frets or fingerboard. It sounds super and has the vintage 16" 1930s tone and volume, with that natural, involving and musical sound. It plays effortlessly and the bridge can be adjusted to your playing style. The body has lots of checking, scuffs, small scratches, small patches on the back of the neck where the paint is missing. It is structurally solid and is ready to play. It is missing the pickguard. It has the incomparable Gibson Pre-war design, craftsmanship, wood quality, attention to detail, sound quality, playability and performance that only vintage Gibson guitars can offer. It is an archtop and archback guitar. The shipping cost includes safe packing, insurance, prompt shipping and tracking number. Buy with confidence, see my feedback. Good Playing, SonnY :)
