Gretsch imported these made-in-Japan guitars in the early 1970s to offer more affordable options for those wanting to jump on board the renewed interest in folk music. Resonator guitars had largely gone out of fashion since the late 30s and early 40s until the folk and blues music revival of the late 60s to early 70s brought them back. This guitar was most likely built by Matsumoku Industrial of Japan. This model of guitar was played most famously by Bill Mabe of "The Baldknobbers Jamboree" of Branson, MO.
This guitar is in excellent condition for its age at approximately 50 years old. There are the usual nicks and surface rubs for any vintage guitar but that is minimal on this instrument. The original cone was "dead" so this guitar has a new Beard cone and spider bridge, along with a new hardwood saddle. The action is spot on at approximately 1/16" at the 12th fret, give-or-take depending on what string set you are using. After adding your preferred strings and being setup to your preferences, this guitar will be rock solid and ready to take on the road.
This guitar ships in a hardshell case in excellent condition.
Vintage gear is sold as-is with no returns. Please study the pictures and the description carefully before you buy. Unfortunately, this is necessary due to the number of on-line scammers, parts stealers, and people making exploratory purchases at the expense of sellers. Thank you for your business and your understanding.
