1980's Revival by Hondo Korina Explorer in near Mint Condition and All Original!
Revival's were the top of the line Hondo's back in the day, and you can tell in the quality of this instrument. This is not your average, beat the piss out of Hondo you'd find in a yard sale that has an inch of dust on and best used as firewood. This is an nicely crafted instrument that's also managed to have been kept in immaculate condition.
To my knowledge, these were made in response to the early Ibanez Destroyers of the day of which Ibanez mimicked Gibson on their 50's Korina Flying V's and Explorers. So in essence, this guitar is a copy of a copy! Some slight differences, but none-the-less still very similar.
Sen Ash constructed body, similar to the Ibanez Destroyers with that awesome banana/ hockey stick styled headstock. This guitar has the optional vintage style 6 point FFT tremolo and a glued in Set Neck that is straight and adjustable if need be. Plenty of fret life for years to come and a recent setup with 9 gauged Ernie Ball Super Slinkys set nice and low. Very few imperfections, the most noticeable is a small chip on the neck by the nut on the Low E side, the finish had worn off, and a minor nick on the very tip of the headstock. That's essentially it. This guitar was kept extremely well through the years.
Guitar comes with the OHSC that's still in nice shape and comes with case candy. The original Handle had dried and broken off and was placed back on incorrectly with extra screws. Overtime, those failed to hold and broke again. Since I've owned it, I managed to find another original style handle and replaced it, but the original one is still included. The Black knobs are the original to the guitar, but the guitar currently has Gibson style Top Hat knobs. Simply cosmetic and appearance preference. Original case keys as well. I think the tremolo bar is original but not 100% certain. It's longer than a tradition tremolo bar as I imagined this would need a slightly longer one, but either the gold finish has worn completely off, or it's simply a chrome one. Yellow strap included, it's just always been with the guitar that I know of.
