About This Listing
Ibanez TS 9 Tube Screamer, serial number 401431
Not working. I don’t know why. The battery cover is also missing. The unit has had electrical tape on it for many years - clean up required. I did my best to show every part of its condition with the photos. Someone tried to repair the wiring that goes to the battery. See photo.
Sold As Is, for parts or repair.
I did some research, and found the following:
(Info according to analogman, who seems to be one specialist in this pedal)
This is most likely from 1984, judging from analogman’s serial number breakdown. It has a silver back label, with no CE, indicating that it is not a reissue.
Also, the nichicon capacitor in my photo has a label of 8346, according to analogman indicating that it was manufactured in 1983, the 46th week.
The Tube Screamer from Ibanez (originally built by Maxon) ranks as one of the most influential pedals ever made and set the bar for generations of overdrives to come. The TS9 of the early-to-mid '80s was the second Tube Screamer model after the TS808 and has been used guitarists from the gamut of styles including Trey Anastasio of Phish and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Originally produced from roughly 1981 to 1985, the TS9 was brought back into production in the early '90s. This page includes examples from the '80s run of production.
