The three contact points of the clamp system are covered in rubber and articulate to the angle of the hoop at their points of contact. The result? The 5000AD4's non-skid rubber grip will keep your pedal firmly planted wile remaining easily adjustble. There's no longer the hook and loop strip to hinder fine positioning and collect pet hair (and goodness knows what else). DW is listening to what drummers like you are saying, and while some may have preferred strips permanently attached to the base plate, it's clear that most found it annoying. But hey, with the 5000AD4's non-skid rubber grip, you can still attach the strips as you need them.
