About This Listing
This 1970s bass guitar is modeled after Paul McCartney's famous violin-style bass with a natural maple finish, ebony fretboard with special inlays, and golden pearloid pickguard and binding. The bass is non-functioning with several visual and electronic issues. The neck is bowed and cracked where it meets the body, the lacquer has a number of splits on the top, bottom, and sides with only a small portion that seem to affect the wood itself, there are scuff marks on the back, some small fading on the front, and surface-level cracks on the headstock. The bass boost function is missing its rear electronics as shown in the photos, though the knobs, switches, and buttons remain so repairs and replacements can still be made and the pickups are in good condition. The original case comes with the bass and is in fairly good condition, with a locking mechanism and red velvet interior that the bass fits perfectly into. Beyond these visual and electronic defects, the body remains intact and can be restored to excellent condition given the proper repairs. These Hofner basses are becoming increasingly rare, with these 1970s models lauded as the best of the bunch.
