1988 Benedetto Fratello solely built by Robert Benedetto in Clearwater, Florida. The guitar plays extremely well with low or high actions, has a very responsive low end and a clear strong high voice, and the tone woods are the highest quality European Tone Woods.
I reached to Bob on this guitar, where he reviewed and evaluated it, and he stated the following. The top is European spruce, the back and sides are European curly maple. I made the one piece neck from European maple. The wood was rough-cut in Germany for specifically making cello necks. I always preferred a select one-piece neck whenever possible. Of course a honey blonde finish with a Gibson BJB pickup. I completed this Fratello in August, 1988.
After recently corresponding with Bob about this guitar, and a few other Benedetto guitars he solely built, Bob concluded a value of $40,000 is realistic, and if he personally made
that model today, that’s what he would charge.
