About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very nice and somewhat rare Turner 34X model microphone from the late 1940's. This heavily deco styled piece with satin chrome finish makes this one of the most widely recognized microphones ever produced. The 34 series came in two different styles over the 20 years it was produced with the only changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge. The 34X microphone came only the crystal element which did not hold up well with time and they rarely ever work today.

Pic # 2 is from an old 1949 Turner advertisement showing the mics basic characteristics.

I decided to take liberties to remove the original element as it was dead and install a high quality dynamic cardioid element that sounds very nice and is set for High Z. This mic will be great for general broadcasting and harp work. Will be a fun mic for any HAM radio set up. You can even sing with it if you so choose. The 34X has that old "rockabilly" tone that would have been the standard sound for the day. The signal is strong I assure you. The element has been fitted with a foam insert held in place with merely the tension of the housing just as the original crystal element was.

The 34X sounds like the original mic with the element swap...just a whole lot stronger than the original crystal element ever was.

As you can see the satin chrome finish is in great shape. The stainless steel screen shows very lite discoloration which is quite common. The screen is free of any holes or dents however. There are no dent's, fractures or missing pieces. An easy 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10. The badge looks brand new and very legible. The joint mechanism works flawlessly and the tension is adjustable. The threads for both the stand and cable are perfect.

A vintage cable is provided and it's 20 feet in length. Long enough for any desk or floor stand.   The cable is soft, pliable and comes with a 1/4 inch Switchcraft connector.

Also included is the very hard to find original 34 X box and while it's a little roughed up it's always a nice bonus to have.

The 34X will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.

A great conversation piece anywhere it sits and ready for any live event.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

And as with all my items...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened due to too many unpaid mics lately. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
