Tama's Starphonic series fuses years of building techniques that have been distilled down to create some of their finest sonic creations to date. For this drum, Tama uses Bubinga which features a thinner shell than their standard Starclassic Bubinga drums for a softer and warmer sound. The reduced shell thickness rounds out Bubinga's massive sound but still showcases rich tone and full resonance of the tonewood. The Grooved Hoop marries well with the Freedom Lug and Claw Hook to enhance the projection and warmth of Bubinga's low-end. A beautiful outer ply of Matte Natural Cordia wood perfectly matches this drum's noble sound
Tama's Starphonic Cordia snare drum produces a solid sound that features full projection with rich, resonant tone, combined with fine, crisp snare response. In order to achieve this new sound, Tama developed a concept that incorporates entirely different hoop, lug, and strainer designs, married to a variety of uniquely constructed drum shells.
