About This Listing

These are my homemade drum sticks I make. I'm calling them Bamboo Reed Rods for now. They will give you a similar sound and feel to the popular reed bundle sticks made by the major stick makers at a half off price. These are each made from bamboo reeds that are tied together with elastic hair ties. I do my best to make each pair match closely in weight and feel but there are definitely some differences to each stick making them like snowflakes. I also sand down any sharpe edges that may be leftover from the bamboo nodes so your hands won't get shredded.

Check out the brief video to hear a short sample of what they sound like on a kit. I play a set of bamboo reed sticks from a big brand (with a green handle...hint) at the end to show the similarities and differences. Mainly the big brand ones have a little more weight so increased volume and uniform reeds so almost perfect balance. You'll also see I leave my ends a little uneven. I do this because on the pairs I've made and played for a while with the ends tend to wear down naturally over time and lose some of the weaker reeds at the tip. This also keeps all the ends from being sharp so as not to damage your drum heads if you play with a little extra vigor sometimes. These work great for low volume situations and I suppose might sound cool on a Cajon though I have yet to try so only conjecture there.

This is a longer pair measuring around 17"!
