Gered Mankowitz first met Jimi Hendrix in 1966 at the Bag O’ Nails Pub in London, where the musician's bold creativity amazed an audience that included Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck. Mankowitz invited the band to his London studio for a photoshoot, where he later took some of the most iconic photos ever taken of the artist. That shoot captured Jimi Hendrix in the midst of a musical revolution that would redefine what it meant to be an electric guitar player.
