About This Listing

From my client's private collection, this functional art piece is almost beyond words. Appropriately named, "My Precious" a tribute to Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, this guitar is a collection of the owners favorite characters, themes and places from the stories. It is an extremely artistic guitar, a playable instrument and a definite one of a kind. We are pleased to have it in for consignment and will happily discuss the guitar prior to purchase. The guitar was built to spec for my client, kept on display in their collection, and is ready to continue it's journey to the next owner.
The guitar is beautiful , the top has a slight arch and is master grade Engelmann Spruce, the back sides and neck are Lacewood - with a slight arch on the back as well. The headstock, "Gandalf the White" is made of Holly and was hand carved - with a detailed "My Precious" carved into his robe. The fretboard is Ebony with Maple, Holly, Walnut and Pearl for the inlaid characters,  Frodo and Sam over the truss rod cover, the 3rd and 4th fret are the tortured Gollum and the 10th and 11th frets we see the evil Saruman, followed by two orcs made of ivory with ruby eyes. At the end of the fretboard we have Aragorn, the King.
The ring is located around the sound hole made with gold pearl and is inscribed with elfin lettering. In the sound hole we have the all seeing eye of Sauron, which is constructed of polished copper and brass, with the center pupil made of ebony. It is inscribed 2004 on the ebony to mark the year. The bridge is Aragorn's sword, machined out of aluminum. The tail piece is Madagascar ebony, the two towers. Lurking on the heel of the guitar there is a carved ENT. The guitar also hosts a brass nut, abalone / gold binding and a McIntyre pickup.
It is ready to ship in it's custom made crate. "It's dangerous business going out your front door".
