Delicious Tycobrahe-style Octave-up Fuzz Tones

Want to nail Hendrix's Band of Gypsys-era fuzz tone? If so, the Fulltone Octafuzz OF-2 is among the most faithful Tycobrahe-style octave-up fuzzes we've heard here at Sweetwater. But that's not all it does — flip its Octa/Fuzz switch to the Fuzz setting, and you'll conjure up some of the nastiest non-Octavia grunge tones you've ever experienced. The Octafuzz is a breeze to dial in, courtesy of its streamlined 2-knob layout, and it responds beautifully to your guitar's volume control. This fuzz guitar effects pedal boasts the same brand of transistors as a 1970s original, along with a near-bulletproof Fulltone-made 3PDT footswitch and a compact — yet eminently robust — steel housing. Tycobrahe-style fuzzes are among the most coveted around, and few stompboxes deliver the tonal goods as effectively as the Octafuzz OF-2.

Note: This pedal runs on a 9-volt battery or a reversed-polarity power adapter with a positive center pin. Using this pedal with a standard power adapter will damage both the adapter and the pedal, and it could be a fire hazard. For more information, call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer.

The Octafuzz OF-2 includes Fulltone's popular mod, which is accessed using the pedal's Octa/Fuzz switch. In the Octa position, the pedal delivers a standard Tycobrahe-style octave-up sound with a subtle ring-modulation character. This setting works best with the neck pickup on a single-coil-equipped guitar, especially if you play single notes on the higher frets. The Fuzz position activates the mod, removing the octave-up effect and increasing the nastiness factor for ultra-distorted fuzz tones with more compression and incredible sustain at any volume.

Exactly the pedal I wanted This pedal does the Hendrix octave thing from Band of Gypsies just fine with my Strat, as hoped for. I had a big box Octafuzz that I was able to sell for several times what I paid for it, but was missing the sound in my rig. I got this as a replacement and I think it is better than the old big box version. The octave is much...read moreby Wyatt from New Jersey on May 4, 2022Music background: Blues, rock, fusion guitar and bass

OctafuzzGot about five fulltone pedals on my board now so I'm definitely already a fan of these magic little boxes. I always like a couple flavors of overdrive to choose from at anytime and although I don't use fuzz often, same thing there. Nice to have a silicone and geranium on hand. Already have a fuzzface (jh-1 I believe it...read moreby Robert from OH on March 8, 2022

Fuzz on!This is one very nice pedal; it can do all I want it to do. I've noticed it prefers to be closer to the front of my pedal chain; further down the chain it seems to saturate and overpower all my other effects pedals, so bear that in mind. Sounds corny, but one of my favorite features about this pedal is that is made in the...read moreby Tony V. from Kansas City Area on April 26, 2017
