Chrissie Hynde's Gibson SG Jr 1964 - White

I purchased this guitar in October 1984 from a recording artist I was working with at the time, who was present when Chrissie Hynde traded it for a Telecaster. He also authored the accompanying letter of authenticity, which provides further details about the guitar’s history. The letter has been redacted for publication on this site; the complete, unaltered version will be provided to the buyer.

This was Chrissie’s primary guitar on the band’s first record and in the accompanying videos. It retains its original, distinctive chips and markings, along with the headstock repair, all consistent with its history. The guitar’s bridge and knobs have since been returned to their original configuration. A compensated bridge and the same style of knobs Chrissie had on the guitar are available.

After more than four decades of ownership, I can say that this remains the best-sounding and best-playing SG Junior I’ve encountered. Over the years, a number of notable players have admired its unmistakable tone—a quality that sets this instrument apart.

I believe the asking price fairly reflects the guitar’s history and documented provenance. There is also a video of Nitebob on Youtube under the 'sound check diaries' talking about being the salesperson at We Buy Guitars and the deal he made with Chrissie for the SG.

This is a remarkable instrument, both musically and historically, and one I’ve been fortunate to own for more than four decades.
