I used this small but mighty PC powered monitor and sub woofer set from Boston Acoustics for recording projects (and to use as a speaker system for my Line6 Helix) because they sound Amazing! Selling, as is, with free shipping to buyers in the lower 48.
The Boston Acoustics BA635 is a legendary, vintage 2.1 multimedia computer speaker system originally released in the late 1990s (often bundled with high-end Gateway PC towers). Despite its age, it remains a favorite in the retro-gaming and budget audiophile communities due to its incredibly balanced, clear audio footprint and robust build quality. System Specifications
- Configuration: 2.1 system (Two micro-satellite speakers and one active subwoofer).
- Power Output: Approximately 35W–36W RMS total (22W allocated to the subwoofer, 7W per satellite).
- Frequency Response: 55 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
- Crossover Frequency: 200 Hz.
- Magnetic Shielding: Built-in MagnaGuard® shielding, which originally prevented interference with old CRT monitors but still protects close-proximity electronics today.
- Controls: Master volume knob built into the right satellite speaker; independent "set-and-forget" bass/subwoofer level control dial located on the rear panel of the subwoofer.
Wiring & Connection DiagramSetting up the BA635 can sometimes be confusing because the right satellite speaker acts as the control hub and splits off into multiple cords. All connections anchor back to the subwoofer, which houses the 3-channel amplifier.
- Right Satellite Speaker (The Master Unit): This speaker has three attached cords coming out of its rear casing:
- Green Plug (3.5mm Aux): Plugs directly into your audio source (the green headphone/line-out jack on your PC, laptop, smartphone, or monitor).
- Red RCA Plug: Plugs into the Red (Right) "Out to Spkrs" jack on the back of the subwoofer.
- Purple Plug: Plugs into the Purple input jack on the back of the subwoofer.
- Left Satellite Speaker: Features a single attached cord terminating in a White RCA Plug. This connects directly to the White (Left) "Out to Spkrs" jack on the back of the subwoofer.
- Power Supply: The external 12V AC power adapter plugs into the 12V In barrel jack on the back of the subwoofer.
