From the moment you warm up your first warm, long tones, the acoustic lineage of this instrument is immediately obvious. Crafted from unstained African blackwood, it delivers that classic, woody depth and dark resonance that players expect from world-class French instruments. Its slightly larger poly-cylindrical bore gives the airflow a distinctly freer, more open response than a traditional R13, allowing your breath to bloom effortlessly across every register while keeping the core tone rich, centered, and flexible. The tactile experience under your fingers feels every bit as refined as the sound itself. Silver-plated keywork laid out across seventeen keys and six rings offers a smooth, nimble action that makes intricate passages feel natural, while pointed needle springs provide precise, snappy spring tension. Durable leather pads seat securely over every tone hole for a whisper-quiet, air-tight seal that enhances immediate projection and soft, delicate articulation. Gold-plated tenon rings, posts, and a decorative medallion bring an elegant, custom aesthetic to the body that looks stunning on any concert stage. Complete with an adjustable thumb rest for custom ergonomic comfort and a handsome leather-bound wooden case for secure transport between rehearsals, this instrument provides advancing performers and seasoned players with an inspiring blend of classical elegance and effortless playability. Stop by Haggerty’s Music to feel the responsive keywork, try out your favorite mouthpiece, and experience this remarkable horn for yourself.
