Streamlined and Sturdy – The Tama HC72S Spartan Straight Cymbal Stand

The heavy weight of the stand pressing on the shoulder as gear is carried. The frustration when adjustments do not go the way intended. The subtle fatigue that sets in before even playing a single note. These are minor discomforts that almost every drummer experiences, but often go unspoken and unrecognized. Yet over time, they quietly take away a drummer's focus and ability to express themselves, ultimately hindering the quality of their performance. Tama created the Spartan series with the goal of eliminating these silent obstacles, so drummers can fully unlock their creative potential.

• Lightweight aluminum construction with compact overall dimensions
• Anti-Walk Rubber Feet prevent stand movement during performance
• Glide-Tite Grip Joint provides firm metal-to-metal contact
• Quick-Set Tilter enables smooth, gearless cymbal angle adjustments
• Quick-Set Cymbal Mate allows fast cymbal setup and removal

In developing Spartan stands, Tama’s pursuit extended far beyond simply reducing the weight. Equipped with innovative features such as the Anti-Walk Rubber Feet to prevent movement during a performance, and the Quick-Set Tilter for intuitive angle adjustments, Spartan stands are designed to offer not only lightness, but also a fast, intuitive setup with rock-solid stability.

To enhance playability, Tama combined specific mechanical innovations into a design that achieves an ideal weight—light enough to reduce physical strain, yet strong enough to meet professional demands. The result is a perfect balance of form and function: a stand that feels just right for every drummer. Spartan’s true potential cannot be fully captured in a basic list of specs—it must be experienced. Those who simply touch a Spartan will immediately know its undeniable originality. The Spartan stands respond to drummers' needs and are reliable in demanding environments, so they can focus on the music.

What do drummers truly seek in a stand? By listening to the unspoken voice in the hearts of drummers everywhere, Spartan is the answer and a new standard in the future of drumming by Tama.

Lightweight Aluminum Pipe

In pursuit of the ultimate lightweight design, this new series from Tama was developed entirely from the ground up, with all parts and mechanisms reimagined from scratch. Using lightweight aluminum extensively throughout, each component has been carefully designed to minimize size. At the same time, achieving a high level of stability alongside a reduced weight is the core concept behind the Spartan stand. To ensure this, critical adjustment points that tend to experience wear and tear—such as bolts and T-nut threads—are made from high-strength, durable materials like zinc die-cast and steel.

Flatter Pipe

The stand legs combine aluminum construction with a hollow pipe-shaped design, delivering not only exceptional lightness but reliable strength.

Anti-Walk Rubber Feet

To prevent cymbal stand “walking” while playing, Tama has developed an all-new rubber tip. Even when the stand lifts slightly off the floor while playing, a piece at the center of the rubber foot remains in contact with the floor, effectively minimizing unwanted movement during performance. This innovative feature delivers a level of stability that is almost unbelievable given the stand’s lightweight design—yet another practical and original solution from Tama.

Glide-Tite Grip Joint

The Glide-Tite Grip Joint allows for a more secure attachment by using a metal-to-metal contact point. This provides an extremely solid anchor and complete isolation for a tom or cymbal. Because the stand does not move with the instrument, the natural resonance of that instrument is maximized.

Quick-Set Tilter

Tama's patented toothless Quick-Set Tilter marks another Tama advancement in hardware. Relying on basic principles of physics, the Quick-Set Tilter holds its position using the friction of six smooth metal disc plates instead of traditional toothed gears, so drummers can adjust it to any desired angle. This mechanism also has a more durable structure than a conventional gear tilter.

Quick-Set Cymbal Mate

By simply gripping and pressing the two buttons on both sides, users can easily attach and remove cymbals quickly and securely—streamlining setup and teardown at gigs or rehearsals.
