Marketed by Klassic Keys GB (Ashby-de-la-Zouch, England)

Here we have a supreme working example of a Rhodes Mk1 Suitcase 88 (USA/1977) electro-mechanical self-powered stereo system (230Vac).
The original Haigler pre-amp delivers the BEST wondrous ping-pong stereo, with the active audio signal blasting out of the 4 x 12" 100 watt powered cabinet (model 7710). There is an FX loop for injection of other FX, eg reverb/chorus...and aux 1 duplicates the dry passive signal direct from the harp for recording, if desired. Hand-made individually numbered wooden keys (non-interchangeable) ensure that the "feel" of a concert grand piano will be there; that was the whole intention of Harold Rhodes, don't you know......? .....a portable system that negated the purchase of a heavy strung domestic piano. Thousands were sold as student pianos in North America from 1960s - 1980s

History:- sourced from Hamilton, Scotland in 2025, from a domestic muso, and now ready for many more years of Rhodes stereo audio chocolate, after extensive/careful "pro" service/voicing & tuning....its LOUD! Suitcase pianos are self-powered. They were designed to be used in medium-size halls/night clubs/studios, without extra amplification. The stereo output effect is stunning, if you have ample space to install it in!

Cosmetically in great shape....new rear Tolex panel, rest is original, hardware is still in good order (no rust), keys are very good, p/ups are still shiny red & all action parts remain clean, correct and tight. It just oozes patina/character/personality...The faceplate/rail has been "modded" somewhat, (wasn't us!), and is a wee bit bizarre. KKGB have tidied it up; maybe some stickers can be popped on? We have have left it as is ....it does look distinctive!

There IS a top lid with the system (not shown). ALL original Rhodes pianos came with top lids. They house the cables/hardware and protect the keys . Vintage Vibe and RMG do not supply top lids. Thats a big "and why not?", as far as we are concerned. They are not cheap instruments........Mk8 models are priced over £12,000 (KKGB actually DO have a midi Mk8 in stock <> unopened/boxed/new @ £12,395 + VAT <> no 3-months waiting/build time!).

Sounds like? Try "Babylon Sisters" by Steely Dan. "New Frontier" by Donald Fagen's "Nightfly" album. Great stereo Rhodes nicely illustrated. NB...lowest note on the 88-keys is "A"..this is LOWER than a 5-string bass guitar drops down to, You have the best Rhodes Piano Bass for free (standard Piano Bass only goes down to "E", which is the lowest any Precision bass drops to...)You have seven extra LOWER notes!

UK Price is £6999, including DIRECT delivery to your door (anywhere in mainland UK). Export quotes can be speedily found; tell us where you are. Export price (outside of EU) is £5999. Klassic Keys GB offer a six-month guarantee (except p/up failure). DHL can deliver (nearly) worldwide.
Klassic Keys GB delivered a 1973 S/Case system SEVEN years ago to RagandBoneman. It has been extensively gigged on loads of tours etc. On no occasion has anything gone wrong.....we must be doing something right.....

THIS IS A RARE MODEL..NOBODY has made an 88-note Rhodes piano since the ill-fated Mk7 models. Vintage Vibe and RMG (Rhodes Music Group/England...Mk8 makers) never marketed any. Attached video shows another KKGB Rhodes S/Case system. We will be making our own video ASAP.....

More photos will appear soon.......
