Yamaha NS-890 speaker 1978-1981 - Rare!!
Our users rate Reverb
This is Yamaha's first 4-way speaker system, employing Yamaha's high-purity beryllium diaphragm for the mid-high frequencies.
They were available around 1978-80, and were JDM only - not sold in the US. The 890's in America were usually brought home by servicemen. I believe when new in 1978 they were about $1000 a pair ( which is $4600 today) - so they were not cheap.
The Beryllium Sound : It features the same iconic beryllium upper-mid and tweeter composition as the NS-1000, it delivers a transparent, analytical, and highly accurate soundstage.
These are the original grills, and matching serial numbers.
These have been refoamed and sound amazing. A tone generator was used during the gluing process to keep the voice coil properly centered.
Each speaker has the quality control sticker from N.Miwa still attached on their backside.
A tone generator was also used to confirm that each driver works. These speakers are big and heavy. I can ship on your dime, or you come pick up!
