It packs four of Focusrite's 3rd Gen mic preamps, each with a 56dB gain range and a measured 111dB dynamic range, into a box that also handles ADAT expansion up to 18 simultaneous inputs and 8 outputs. That's enough headroom to run a full band through clean preamps while still having room to expand later via ADAT, which is where cheaper two- or four-channel interfaces hit a wall fast.

For podcasters specifically, this is close to ideal: four XLR mic inputs mean four hosts or guests can each run their own mic without mults or a separate mixer, and two headphone outputs with independent level control let every person monitor their own mix instead of fighting over a shared volume knob. Loopback lets you route your computer's audio (a Zoom call, a backing track, a game feed) directly into your recording or stream alongside the mics, which is the exact feature a lot of dedicated podcast interfaces charge extra for. Add in Air mode for brightening vocals and acoustic sources, and this one box covers podcasting, band tracking, and singer-songwriter demoing without forcing you into a different piece of gear for each job.
