January 2020 Rickenbacker 4003S in Cieloglo finish. This was 1 of 25 made in this finish and was sold new at Sam Ash in Los Angeles. The word Cielo is Spanish for sky. This 4003S has the new and improved Rick bridge, I believe this was the first year of Rick using this. I’ve been playing ricks 15 years and these bridges were a fantastic change and absolutely no tail lift.
I’ve taken great care of this bass, it was used in 2 music videos for my band Mediocore. One was on a sailboat and I’m linking that. I have changed the knobs and the bridge pickup surround but I have all the original parts included. The bass is in phenomenal shape. There are only the slightest signs of use. If you angle it in the light you can see a few small swirls and a couple light clear coat indentations. No chips or cracks. The frets are in excellent shape as this bass has likely under 20 hours of actual play time. The fretboard and the entire bass is maple but the fretboard is a high gloss clear, not that common with ricks to see maple but it looks lovely against this blue, You can see as the frets were installed there are small surface cracks to the glass finish, just the nature of the beast (photo 11). I never used this bass live as I didn’t want any damage to occur to it. The bridge surround was changed to a pickguardian unit. As said I have the original chrome bridge surround and pickup cover. I made this change as being primarily a pick player it allows for easier playing personally. You’ll have no issue changing it back to its original configuration if you wanted. I also changed the knobs to the current white ones. Again the originals are included, this change required no modification to the pot shafts so once again changed back to stock if you desire- I even have a small screwdriver that’s in the package for removal. I posted 1 photo (photo 19) of how it originally looked when new, it will NOT come to you that way but you can return it with those included original parts and that is this exact bass when I first got it.
The original paperwork and case key are included. The original polish cloth is unopened. The hardcase is the original and is in great shape- of course it has some scratches from being a case but all superficial. The case even has the original SKU sticker denoting Cieloglo.
Lastly this is a fantastic playing bass and it’s everything you’d want in a Rickenbacker. I’ve had a half dozen 4004 models, many vintage 4001 models , modern 4003 models etc. These S models are classic Rick but with comfort. I never planned to sell this bass but its main use was for that band and since that project ended I just don't use it. You’ll be hard pressed to find a nicer Rick and certainly not in this finish.
