Nord Electro 7 HP
The Nord Electro 7 HP is a premium performance keyboard from Clavia, the Swedish company behind the iconic Nord brand. Designed for working musicians who demand both authenticity and portability, the Electro 7 HP delivers world-class emulations of classic electric and acoustic pianos, organs, and other vintage keyboard instruments in a sleek, stage-ready package. The "HP" designation refers to its 73-key hammer action with triple sensors — bringing the expressive feel of an acoustic piano to what is otherwise a versatile multi-instrument workhorse. Whether you're playing a soul gig, a jazz club residency, or a full arena tour, the Electro 7 HP is engineered to perform.

Sound engine and instrument libraries
At the heart of the Nord Electro 7 HP are three powerful sound engines. The Nord Piano Library provides meticulously sampled acoustic and electric pianos, with instruments ranging from classic Steinway concert grands to vintage Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos. The Nord Organ section reproduces the full character of tonewheel organs, transistor organs, and the coveted Vox Continental and Farfisa combo organs — complete with rotary speaker simulation and a fully functional drawbar interface. Rounding out the palette is the Nord Sample Library 3.0 , which gives players access to a rich selection of additional sounds including strings, choirs, brass, and more. All three engines can be layered or split across the keyboard, enabling complex, expressive setups with minimal effort.
Hammer action playability and performance controls
The HP variant's 73-key weighted hammer action keyboard is a defining feature, offering a velocity-sensitive, piano-like response that players of acoustic instruments will find immediately familiar. Triple sensors per key ensure rapid, accurate note repetition — critical for demanding piano passages and live performance reliability. The panel layout reflects Nord's philosophy of direct, hands-on control: physical drawbars for the organ section, dedicated knobs and buttons for each sound engine, and a clear, intuitive signal flow. The Electro 7 HP also supports seamless transitions between patches using a Live mode, while the effects section — including reverb, delay, chorus/flanger, tremolo, and drive — is accessible without menu diving, keeping the focus on music-making rather than navigation.
Connectivity and stage-ready design
The Nord Electro 7 HP is built for professional deployment. Its connections include balanced stereo outputs via XLR and ¼" jacks, a dedicated headphone output, MIDI in/out via standard 5-pin DIN connectors, and USB for both MIDI communication and software updates. A mono output configuration supports easy integration with keyboard amplifiers and front-of-house rigs alike. The instrument's signature red chassis is lightweight yet robust, and its compact footprint makes it a practical choice for musicians who travel frequently. Firmware updates and library downloads are handled via the Nord Sound Manager software, ensuring the instrument remains current as new sounds and features become available.
Why We Love This
Our gear experts prize the Nord Electro 7 HP for its uncompromising authenticity — the organ drawbars, tonewheel algorithms, and sampled pianos consistently earn praise for sounding and feeling like the real instruments they emulate. Its intuitive layout means zero time lost in menus during a live set, while the hammer action gives pianists the expressive control they expect. From studio sessions to touring rigs, the Electro 7 HP earns its place as a trusted, go-to performance instrument.
