The Eastman MD305 is a really nice take on the classic A-style mandolin. The Amberburst finish, F-holes, and maple body give it a great old-school look, while the solid Adirondack spruce top brings a little more character to the sound.

The maple back and sides keep the voice clear and lively, with plenty of definition for picking out individual notes and chords. The adjustable compensated ebony bridge also gives you some room to fine-tune the setup and intonation, which is always nice on a mandolin.

The neck has a comfortable 12" radius ebony fingerboard with a 1 3/16" bone nut, and the vintage open-gear tuners fit the whole package really well. The pearl headstock logo and dot inlays keep the appointments simple without making it feel plain.

This one comes with a padded gig bag and is a great choice for someone looking for a well-built A-style mandolin with solid woods and a little more personality than the usual entry-level stuff.
