Sankyo solid silver handmade flute, model DT. Drawn tone holes. RS-1 type headjoint (*). Engraved lip plate. Covered keys, split E mechanism, C foot. Silver-plated finish. Made around 1990. Original price new: ¥1,045,000.

*Sankyo's own modern headjoint design, optimizing the embouchure hole relative to the player's embouchure for a strong low register and direct response. The RS-1 has a well-balanced tone, especially bright and varied in the high register (current equivalent: RT-3).

[Condition]
Apart from light polishing marks and minor rub marks, there are no noticeable scratches or plating damage - clean condition that belies its age. Overhauled with all pads, corks, and felts replaced.

Founded in 1968 by skilled craftsmen, Sankyo Flute has earned a reputation as a leading Japanese flute maker through uncompromising work from material research to parts making and assembly. Its solid silver models offer the elegance and colorful tone that define the Sankyo sound.

The DT, once listed as a "semi-handmade" model, is a solid silver handmade flute with drawn tone holes, built as an upper model alongside the soldered tone-hole ST, with generous volume and wide expressive range. The RS-1 (now RT-3) type headjoint gives direct response and balanced tone from a strong low register to a bright, varied high register.

Solid silver flutes are produced in smaller numbers than student models and tend to be kept for a long time, so few reach the used market. This is a one-owner instrument since new and has clearly been well cared for. The lip plate features a custom-ordered delicate scroll engraving with a floral motif.
