For sale is an excellent-condition Sutherland Engineering PhD, one of Ron Sutherland’s highly regarded battery-powered phono preamplifiers.

The PhD was designed around an exceptionally quiet, isolated power supply using 16 D-cell batteries, completely separating the phono stage from AC-line noise. The result is the type of extremely low noise floor, transparency, detail, and natural musical presentation that Sutherland phono stages are known for.

The PhD offers adjustable gain and cartridge loading, making it suitable for a wide variety of moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges.
