Leedy and Ludwig Parade Snare Drum 1950s - Green Sparkle

Vintage Leedy & Ludwig parade/field snare drum in green sparkle, 10" x 15". The Leedy & Ludwig badge dates this shell to roughly 1950–1955, the brief window when C.G. Conn merged the Leedy and Ludwig & Ludwig lines in Elkhart, Indiana, before selling the Leedy name to Slingerland and the Ludwig name back to the Ludwig family in 1955. 

The green sparkle wrap is in excellent condition for its age: bright, with tight seams, no bubbling or lifting, and none of the black spotting that commonly affects sparkle wraps from this era. Photographs shift between green and olive-gold depending on the light, which is normal for these wraps.

Separate tension, 8 lugs top and bottom, metal hoops. Chrome is clean and bright with only minor wear. Strainer and butt plate are present and functioning. Gut snares included and in good shape.

Ludwig Weather Master "Orch. Parade Snare" heads. These are period replacements from the 1960s, not the original calfskin. Both are intact and playable, but the batter head probably needs to be replaced. 

The inside of the drum looks as if it might have been painted white at some point - and someone wrote their name in pen inside the drum. See photos for details. 

Also includes period canvas bag which is badly torn, but could be sown/repaired.
