Cutthroat Audio Little Wing 6G1 5-Watt 1x8 Combo – Brown/British

Exceptionally clean Cutthroat Audio Little Wing—a hand-wired, five-watt 1x8 combo built around Cutthroat’s imaginative “6G1 Brown Champ” concept. It combines American Brownface character, a British-inspired channel and several clever gain and response controls in a remarkably compact amplifier.

Input 1 is voiced after a Brownface-style preamp, while Input 2 provides a British JMP50/1987-inspired voice. Pulling the Volume control combines the two channels for a third blended voicing. Pulling the Tone control engages an additional preamp gain stage, making it possible to produce satisfying overdrive without running the amp at maximum volume.

The adjustable negative-feedback control further changes the amplifier’s feel and response. On the rear panel, the full-power/25% switch reduces the approximately five-watt output to just over one watt. The amp can also be switched between cathode- and fixed-bias operation for two different playing responses.

Despite its small size and eight-inch speaker, the Little Wing delivers remarkably full cleans and excellent classic-rock grind. It is equally well suited to home playing, recording or a microphone onstage.
