Amek System 9098 DMA — Dual Microphone Amplifier (Rupert Neve design)
Two channels of Rupert Neve's Transformer-Like Amplifier front end, derived from the 9098 large-format console. Clean, fast, and enormously headroomed — this is the "modern Neve" voice: open top end and solid low midrange without the woolliness, and it takes ribbons and low-output dynamics without complaint.
- 9.5/10 Condition, these are rare and in this condition, fugataboutit
- Switched gain 0–66 dB in 6 dB steps, plus ±6 dB trim for an overall range of −6 dB to +72 dB
- Output capability in excess of +25 dBu
- High-pass filter at 120 Hz, 18 dB/octave
- Front-panel DI with greater than 100 kΩ input impedance — excellent on bass, guitar, and synths
- Switchable 48 V phantom and phase invert per channel
- M-S matrix with WIDTH control for stereo mic work — run the two paths as a stereo pair or fully independently
- Balanced XLR I/O, single rack space
Equally at home as a tracking pair, a stereo room/overhead front end, or a high-headroom DI. A well-regarded and increasingly scarce piece — Amek discontinued the 9098 line and these don't surface often. Own a piece of audio history, a Rupert Neve classic.
