Here is a beautifully rebuilt Steinway Model M with the warm, rich tone and responsive action people seek in a vintage Steinway, combined with extensive restoration throughout the piano.

This 1916 Steinway has been brought back to a remarkably high level both mechanically and cosmetically. The mahogany case has been repaired and refinished in a lustrous satin lacquer finish that has wonderful depth and brings out the natural beauty of the wood. The hardware has been cleaned and buffed, and the plate has been repaired and refinished. New Steinway-style logos have been installed on the soundboard and fallboard, completing the presentation.

The rebuilding work goes far beyond cosmetics. A new custom pinblock has been fitted, along with new bass and treble strings and new #2 tuning pins. Both the bass and treble bridges have been reworked, and the damper felt has been replaced.

The action has also received extensive work. New hammers, shanks and flanges have been installed. The whippens have been thoroughly cleaned and have been rebuilt with new felts where. The keys have been cleaned and repaired with new key bushings. The entire action has been finely regulated and refined for a quick, responsive feel.

As with all of our fine rebuilt pianos, the final preparation is critical. This piano has been tuned many times in the course of its restoration, followed by extensive regulation, fine-tuning and voicing to bring everything together.

The result is a Steinway with a warm, rich tone and an action that is responsive and quick. At 5’7”, the Model M is large enough to deliver satisfying bass and tonal depth while remaining an ideal size for a home, teaching studio or smaller performance space.
