Overview

For your consideration is a truly exceptional, hand-selected 2019 Gibson Hummingbird Studio Walnut Burst, handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana.

This specific instrument carries a unique story: it features the original, iridescent factory mylar label on the back of the headstock designating it as an Official Winter NAMM 2020 Factory Display Model. When Gibson builds and designates an instrument for a major international trade show like NAMM, it is not a standard off-the-rack production model. Gibson’s master builders carefully audit their inventory to select a piece featuring the absolute finest wood grain patterning, flawless finish execution, and an ideal factory setup to represent the company under the scrutiny of international artists and collectors. This guitar is a physical showcase of Gibson Montana’s highest standard of craftsmanship.

The Tonewood Profile & Acoustic Character

While a traditional Hummingbird utilizes mahogany, the Studio Walnut series introduces a unique and modern acoustic design. This instrument features a premium solid Sitka Spruce top paired with masterfully figured, solid American Walnut back and sides.

Highly prized by studio engineers and singer-songwriters, American Walnut serves as a perfect tonal bridge between the warmth of Mahogany and the bright clarity of Rosewood. It delivers the iconic, woody mid-range "Gibson growl" you expect from a square-shoulder acoustic, but introduces tighter, more focused lows and pristine note definition that sits beautifully in a live mix or studio recording session.
