This 1969 "drip edge" Vibrolux is in great overall condition. There's the normal exterior wear you'd expect from a 60 year old amp.
The all tube, mid wattage, and 2x10 combo format make this a perfect amp for a lot of applications. A touch more clean headroom than a Deluxe, with more "open" and less boxy sound.
This one has a newer power transformer. Caps updated with Spragues. New 3 prong grounded power cable. A newer footswitch for the vibrato/Reverb. A few screws are newer. The two speakers have been replaced with two 10" Warehouse speakers -- one ceramic and one alnico for a very smooth, balanced tone. It is the quietest vintage Fender amp I've played through. No static with the knobs and a super low noise floor when idle. No old cigarette smells either. It's an excellent amp.
Here are the details that date the amp to 1969:
- Serial number A 12201
- 1969 date stamp inside chassis - ends in 0469, likely indicating 4th week of 1969
- Choke code 606825 (25th week of 1968)
- Output transformer code 606822 (22nd week of 1968)
- Reverb transformer code 606842 (42nd week of 1968)
- The pots are original and date to 1968 as well.
The sale includes a very nice heavy-duty vinyl cover, as pictured.
