The Spider III 15 is one of those compact practice amps that makes it very easy to plug in and start experimenting. Instead of needing a pedalboard just to get different sounds, you have four distinct amp voices—Clean, Crunch, Metal and Insane—plus built-in modulation, delay and reverb right on the front panel.

For a small 15-watt amp, there is a surprising amount to work with. Dial in a straightforward clean practice tone, push into crunchy rock sounds, or go straight into the heavier Line 6 tones that made the Spider series so recognizable.

The onboard effects include chorus/flanger, phaser, tremolo, sweep echo, tape echo and reverb, with the ability to combine effects. There is also a CD/MP3 input for practicing along with tracks and a headphone/recording output for quiet playing.

This example presents very nicely for its age. The cabinet, grille, control panel, handle and corner protectors all look clean, and it still has the original feature graphic on the lower grille. The original Line 6 8” 4-ohm speaker is installed.

A very practical little grab-and-play amp for a bedroom, office, beginner setup or backup practice rig.
