Kala KAA-15S 2018 - Satin Mahogany Espresso Limited Edition

Kala Soprano ukulele with mahogany back and sides, and walnut fingerboard. Dark espresso finish. Subtle arrow rosette around the sound hole. Original Aquila Super Nylgut strings.

Purchased in 2018. I believe this dark finish was a limited edition. It is a dark chocolate brown with a reddish tint in some lights. Uke plays perfectly, and is in tune. It has a surprisingly deep voice for a soprano, and it is LOUD. I love it, but I am moving cross-country and trying to downscale, and I just don't play this sweet baby often enough to justify keeping her.

This uke had some sharp fret wires, and sharp edges on the bridge, and those were both sanded down by a professional at a music store. I can't remember if they also lowered the action, but either way, the instrument is very comfortable to play. The ukulele does NOT have strap buttons.

I added some star decals on the headstock, the fingerboard (frets 5, 7 & 10), and on the body, and the decal around the sound hole. These are mother of pearl pattered decals specifically for guitars. According to the manufacturer (Jockomo), they can be gently removed without damaging the ukulele's finish.

Before buying the decals I drew a star in gold paint pen on the back of the headstock to identify it as mine. The star has mostly worn away, but please see the photo.

The ukulele comes with a brown padded gig bag that has a carry handle, a hanging strap and also backpack straps. Please note that I had previously attached some pins to the front of the bag, and there are a few pin holes on the fabric of the gig bag's pocket (see photo).
